Local Area Information
The Far West is one of the most beautiful parts of Cornwall, with a rugged wild coastline dotted with iconic mine engine houses, beautiful beaches and a rich cultural legacy of art galleries and theatres.
There are so many wonderful places to explore and activities to try out as well as a range of coastal walks.

Pendeen Village
Pendeen village has a local shop where you can stock up on your essentials and a lovely local pub called The North Inn, famous for its curry nights!
You can visit Geevor Mine in Pendeen and have a look around the museum, stop for a while in their gift store and enjoy a cream tea in its cafe, The Count House, overlooking the Atlantic Ocean. The Count House has a sister cafe that does superb takeaway food for a picnic or to eat back at the cottage too.

Pendeen Lighthouse
Pendeen Lighthouse is a short walk from Tinner’s Cottage. From here you have an unspoiled, panoramic view of the surrounding coastline and the sweeping expanse of the Atlantic Ocean. The area has a haunting beauty.
Pendeen Lighthouse is one of Cornwall's most iconic coastal landmarks, standing tall and proud on the cliffs of the Penwith Peninsula. The light still performs its duty, guiding ships safely along this treacherous stretch of the Cornish coast. Whether it’s a bright, sunny day with the sea sparkling in the distance or a stormy afternoon with the wind howling around you, visiting Pendeen Lighthouse is an unforgettable experience.

There are lots of beautiful beaches and secluded coves with white sands and turquoise sea in the Far West.
Well worth a visit are Sennen Cove, Porthgwarra, Nanjizal, Porthcurno, Marazion, Kynance Cove, Carbis Bay and Portheras. (Portheras is within walking distance of Tinner’s Cottage.)
